Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
Insurgent picks up right where it's prequel, Divergent, left off. Tris, Tobias, and company have just taken temporary refuge in the Amity headquarters after Erudite's attack on Abnegation and must figure out how to stop Jeanine from continuing her plan for complete control. War is looming and Tris must come to terms with her parents' deaths and the decisions she made during the Erudite attack in Divergent. She further explores just what it means to be Divergent and has difficult decisions to make as she unravels the secrets of everyone around her.-- Amazon.com description
I read this book in less than two days because I just couldn't put it down. Yes, it's really that good. This follow-up novel does not disappoint in it's action, tension, or romance. Tris and Tobias' relationship grows very realistically and is possibly the best relationship I've ever read. Veronica Roth's writing truly pulls you into the world she's created and makes you believe in her characters. Insurgent is the best book I've read so far this year.
